Last year, Samsung had launched the Galaxy On5 and Galaxy On7 smartphones in India. The phones were successful because they were extremely affordable with a price tag of Rs 8990 (On5) and Rs 10990 (On7).
Samsung has now launched its successors – the Galaxy On5 Pro and Galaxy On7 Pro – are both listed exclusively on Amazon India (not available anywhere else). The phones have been priced at Rs 9,190 and Rs 11,190 respectively.
The company has managed to keep the same design and retained the leather back too. There are several improvements in this year’s ‘pro’ versions. They get more RAM, increased internal storage as well as Android Marshmallow 6.0 update. The rest remains the same.
The On5 features a 5-inch Full HD display with Exynos 3275 Quad Core processor and Mali 720 GPU. It has 16GB internal storage with 128 GB expandable storage (MicroSD card – needs to be purchased separately) and 2GB RAM. It is also equipped with 8MP back camera and 5MP front camera and 2600 mAh battery.
Galaxy On7 features a 5.5 inch Full HD display with Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor and Adreno 306 GPU. It offers 16GB internal storage with 128 GB expandable storage and 2GB of RAM. It also comes with 3000 mAh battery, 13MP back camera and 5MP front camera.
Specifications are good for the price, but cannot be compared to Chinese competitors like Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, Moto G4 Plus and Lenovo Zuk Z1. These phones offer much better value than the Samsung phones – but Samsung has brand value and many more service centres across the country.
